研究目的はWEPPモデル(hillslope version)の適用性を評価することである．スリランカのUma-Oya流域内の畑地帯に製作した土壌侵食試験枠(幅1.5m，長さ8m，勾配30%)を用いて，キャベツまたはトマト栽培条件下における土壌侵食量などを一雨ごとに1年間観測した．WEPPモデルの計算値と観測値を比較した結果，WEPPモデルの適用性は良好であった．
